Family Decals Family Decals Are Still as Popular as EverFamily decals have seen a recent resurgence in popularity as families have become closer together during these tough economic times. They are everywhere - when you drive on the road, when you're looking for parking, wherever, proud families have these decals on the back of their vehicle. These decals are usually symbolic of each member of the family. Generally stick figures with clothes, each family member gets represented by one decal. Some decals will also have names, whereas some only have the stick figures. It's even possible to get your dog in on the action, depending where you go. Decals are usually sold in terms of height. For example, baby might only be 2" tall, but dad will be 5" tall. Of course, different vendors have different decal sizes. What that means for you is you need to keep the decal sizes in proportion to each other. It doesn't make sense to have a 4" baby and a 5" daddy! There are also several thousand different types of family decals you can buy, limited only by the number of vendors you can find. Family decals are commonly found locally, at stores such as Pep Boys and Autozone, and you can get custom family decals from many mall decal vendors. However, if you are willing to buy family decals online, you'll have a much wider variety to choose from. Whereas you might only find 2-5 shops carrying a few different types of family decals near you, you'll find hundreds of shops carrying thousands of different types of decals online. You'll only be limited by your creativity and patience, however you'll be rewarded by unique decals that that are sure to catch an eye. For some strange reason, family decals are most popular with larger vehicles. They are most commonly seen on minivans and SUV's, probably because people with larger vehicles are more likely to have families. Of course, there's nothing wrong with putting some family decals on the back of your regular car; you could even put it on say, your motorcycle! Proper application of the vinyl decal starts with proper cleaning; this allows the decal to fully adhere to the surface, and prevents things like air bubbles. If you're applying the decals to a car window, do not apply to a hot window! If you think the window is more than 70 degrees, wait until it is cooler then try again. Unlike larger custom decals, family decals are usually the "peel and stick" type. After cleaning, gently remove the backing from the decal. Apply the decal to your vehicle; quality decals will have alignment lines on the bottom to help you out. After application, you will need to smooth out the air bubbles. Using a soft hard surface (i.e. credit card, not butter knife), smooth out the air bubbles. Work your way from the center out for best results. After the air bubbles have been removed to your satisfaction, remove the transfer film on top. If the decals come up with the film, press down and repeat. Finally, use your credit card to once again smooth out air bubbles. Wait a few days before washing your car, and you're done! Search for articles related to Family Decals: |
